P&W's Daily Round Up: November 18th

NFL:

New York Jets RB LaDainian Tomlinson is sending signed gear to the 8-year-old Jets fan who was tackled by a drunken Browns fan after Sunday's win in Cleveland.

Jason Garrett is taking no prisoners in Dallas. The interim coach has installed a dress code for away games, and practices have become much more serious and strenuous.


MLB:

Seattle Mariners RHP Felix Hernandez has won the American League Cy Young. He got 75% of first-place votes. Although he had a modest record of 13-12, he was far superior to the other candidates in other categories such as strikeouts and E.R.A.

Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire has been rewarded for his manager of the year award, by being given a 2-year contract extension.

The Colorado Rockes have traded INF Clint Barmes to the Houston Astros for RHP Felipe Paulino. This deal figures to have no significant impact.


NBA:

Portland Trailblazers C Greg Oden is out for the season with yet another knee injury. This appears to be becoming a trend... He is well on his way to becoming the worst number 1 overall pick in NBA history.

Miami Heat F Chris Bosh had 35 points last night, finally breaking his shooting slump to start the season.

The NBA has announced that D-League play will continue even if there is a lockout.


CFB:

The University of Washington will be putting $250 million into renovations of their stadium.

Congress acknowledged Joe Paterno's 400th win by passing a resolution honoring the Penn State coach.


CBB:

Michigan State has given coach Tom Izzo a $500,000 raise.

The MRI on Gonzaga F Elias Harris did not show an achilles tear, but he remains out indefinitely.
